2024 Dec-India Wed 18. Delhi.

Who needs sleep? I woke up at 7am and felt refreshed. It was a cold night's sleep.

Today I was going to see as much as possible. The attendant suggested I have a driver to take me everywhere I needed. It would cost INR2,220 (approx AUD41). GetYourGuide had an equivalent day tour for AUD75 but I would be skimming sites and not doing what I wanted, at my own pace.

I went and hammerd the main sites:

1) Red Fort.

2) Jama Mashid.

3) Chandni Chowk.

4) Raj Ghat.

5) India Gate.

6) Humayun's Tomb.

7) Lodi Gardens.

This was all the time I had. Non-stop sightseeing from 9am-5pm.

When I did a little more research, I could probably had a driver for the day for half the price. I let my guard down. Lucky it was low cost. Ultimately, I saw the main things I wanted.

I got back to the hotel for a hot shower. Went walking around the busy and lively Karol Barg area and grabbed a good Indian dinner, with garlic naan, that was dripping with garlic butter. I also nearly drank ice lemon tea (from a dispenser). I thought I was buying the bottled Lipton ice tea type. Lucky I didnt drink it =avoided the 'Delhi belly'.

I finished off dinner by visiting another place that sold a choc hazelnut thick shake. It wasn't spectacular but it was nice and cold. I thought it had ice in it, but I went back to the store to confirm. The attendent said no ice and that his machine was very cold.

A long day requires a good nights sleep. Tomorrow will be an easy day and I will experience the public transport system. It is the cheapest way to travel, with a little bit of planning.
