1) Akshardham temple.
2) Jantar Mantar.
3) Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir).
4) Lotus Temple.
At Akshardham you cannot take any cameras, video or smartphones into the facility. No possibility to take pictures. It has very intricate carvings on every surface of the structures. Amazing. There is the history surrounding this (religious), but I am an atheist. I was more enamoured by the architecture and fine details.
The next stop was Jantar Mantar. This was a bunch of unique structures. Not mind blowing. Just something different.
Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir) is also a place that does not allow pictures. It is no where near as spectacular as Akshardham. In fact, it was rather bland. It had been maintained but how they have maintained it makes it look like I painted my place. Just slap on a coat. In fact, I would have done a better job. The best thing I saw here was a marble world globe. It was made up of 1" off-square pieces.
My last sightseeing stop is the Lotus Temple. Why not? I am pretty done now with Delhi. I am now searching out that unique gem. Lotus Temple was not that gem. It feels like a rip-off of the Sydney Opera House. Do not know which one came first. It was very busy and very regimented in how you got in.
Time to get back to the hotel for a hot shower before meeting up with the tour group for the first time.
-I am sharing a room with a NZer. 1st day and we are already getting along.
-The rest of the other members all seem decent enough.
Oh, an exciting thing did happen today. This morning a bird of prey flew past my shoulder and picked up some rat parts (road kill). It didn't fly back in my direction, thank goodness.
