2024 Oct-Turkey Sun 13. Fethiye

Today was a definite rushing day. We left our hotel Pamukkale at 8:30pm. We arrived at our hotel in Fethiye at 1:00pm. I actually felt tired as I could not sleep until 2:30am.

We had an hour to refresh from the horrible bus ride. I used some of that hour to visit the external of Amyntas Rock Tombs. It was not worth going in as it was virtually completely visible from the outside.

At 2:00pm we caught the public transport bus to Oludeniz Beach. This was an opportunity to swim in the Mediterranean Sea. It took around 20mins to get to the beach...then it was every person for themselves. The sea was at a very comfortable temperature. You could float all day long (40mins was enough for me).

Oludeniz is a small town but very centered towards tourism. Shops covering high end to low end goods.

This place is a mecca for paragliding. They are everywhere.

When we left Oludeniz one of the tour members did not show up at the meeting point in time. This was the same person that had missed another meeting time previously, and had to catch a taxi at their own cost. You would have thought that they would have learned from the first incident. That person also didn't have mobile data so there was no way to contact them.

This habit of missing time also caught out one of the other members, who also did not have mobile data. They too had to catch a taxi. But that person learned their lesson and had not repeated that mistake so far. This particular trip has it all.

The evening was spent walking the very long promenade in Fethiye. I got to visit the Old Town, which was close to the main marina. So many boats. Even on the promenade most of the boats are catering for tourism.
