We returned back to Istanbul from Eskisehir. Only a short 3:30hrs. We arrived and completed check-in by 2pm.
I never made a real connection with any of the tour group members. There were three new members that joined us for the last four days. No chance you could strike up any form of bond in that short period of time. By all means you get to know people from the conversations but unlikely to form any type of long term friendship.
I only had one thing left that I wanted to do in Istanbul. That was to check out the Anatolian side again, particularly Kadiköy. I am so happy that I did not miss this area.
By the water's edge, the park was peaceful. It felt like western seaside city. But as soon as you walked inland on the main road (and side streets), it was wonderfully busy/hectic at 5pm. So much real life.
With one last walk of the streets at night and it was time to call it a day. Tomorrow after breakfast, I would walk to the train station and make my way to the other airport (Sabiha Gökçen International Airport/
İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen uluslararası Havalimanı (SAW)). I had arrived at the other airport (Istanbul Airport (IST)).
I look at Istanbul, and I look at Sydney. There is zero comparison between the two. If I were a budding tourist, and I had to decide where to visit, it would be an easy choice...Istanbul by a landslide!
There is so much more to Turkey. I hear there are multi day hiking tours. But, that would have to be a distant future travel plan. There are many more places still to visit before I return to Turkey.
This will be my last entry for a while...until my next trip in mid Dec (to India)...or if something exciting happens.
