2025 Jan-India Thu 23. Hampi-overnight train.

Visited many sites as part of the broader Vittala ittala Temple tour.

Hampi is possibly the best tourist place in southern India. It has so many archaeological sites, huge and lush green rice fields everywhere, and some amazing mountain formations.

We could have easily skipped Madurai and Mysore to spend more time in Hampi. Highly recommended.

Given its archaeological assets, I can see this place being significantly developed in the next 10yrs. Many people have not heard of Hampi, but it is a UNESCO site, so the word should be out. It is a nice and quiet place. Get here before it gets over touristed.

It was a solid day of siteseeing. Just the way it should be. What a fantastic place to visit as we finish the tour.

Nothing else eventful occurred, besides the shuttle bus receiving a puncture on the transfer to the train station. Easily swapped with ample time to spare.

Off to Goa on the overnight train for the final full day of the tour. A fort and a lot of beaches tomorrow. As time is precious, I will be doing my own exploring.

I am definitely 'India' exhausted. I'll do a summary later as I transfer out of Mumbai in 2 days' time.
