2024 Oct-Croatia Tue 1. Dubrovnik (Final tour day)

Short transfer day for the last day of the Intrepid Western Balkans Uncovered tour.

We are finishing in Dubrovnik.

Crossing the border into Croatia was simple via the smaller border crossing. It was quick and easy.

As we arrived into Dubrovnik it was clear that this place had been more 'polished' than many of the other Adriatic towns. I think I preferred the undeveloped and rustic places...they had more character.

It already felt busy with the volume of tourists as we toured the old town and walked the wall. I was 'over it' by the time we had finished with the wall and would leave the rest of the sightseeing for tomorrow. We decided that it would be a good idea to go for a much needed swim. We jumped in at Uvala Lapad Beach. The water was warmish/comfortable. It felt so good.

Before our final dinner together I went for a quick walk around the port area. I always enjoy taking night photos. There is no harsh sunlight to contend with.

Our final group dinner was excellent. Yummy.

The sad element of this trip is when the trip ends. We had a really amazing group. Five people, including the guide, that immediately gelled on day one. We were fortunate to have an amazing tour guide in Vojin, who was exceptional. Full of fun (funny) and so much knowledge. He could not be faulted for his performance...and I am one critical bastard.

In this world it is rare to find a diamond in the rough. I was so fortunate to meet the right group members. Each character was 'leftist' in nature, but it balanced nicely with me being central-right...and I am always correct :-)

It is inevitable, but that is life. We all return to our normal lives or future travels. This group gelled as well as my Morocco northern tour group.

Organised group tours not only provide simplicity in travel (logistics), but equally important, is the valuable experience to share with others (strangers), when the right group members are brought together. When members gel it is effortless.
