Fisher Space Pen (AG7) and Nu Stone paper

Here's something that forms a great combination for writing in your diary/journal in wet conditions...pen and paper :-)

It is not wise to take electronic devices such as tablets and laptops into moist and wet environments.  This is particularly true if you head up to high camps (and even base camps).  Also, when you run out of power for your devices and you need to write something down, then a good pen and paper will do the trick.

i) Fisher Space Pen (FSP) AG7 (http://www.spacepen.com/originalastronautspacepen.aspx)

The AG7 is one of the best pens around.  It writes in cold temps, in water and upside down.  It is solidly constructed with an ingenious cartridge retraction mechanism (the brass button on the side of the pen).  When you press the button the pen tip goes back into the shell of the pen.  Just something different.

The grooves where you place your fingers is really positive and feels connected to your fingers.  It is a great writing pen and the cartridges are truly the best.  The cartridges can also be used on Parker pens (you can get the plastic adaptors to stick onto them).

The AG7 is well priced for a piece of fantastic old school engineering and charm.

But a pen is useless without a good writing surface...

ii) Nu Stone writing paper (NuS) (http://www.nuco-international.com/products/nu-stone/tradie-stone-paper-notebooks)

This is where the NuS comes into play.  It is not made of paper, but actually made of stone!  How cool is that!  It is environmentally friendly to produce and it is waterproof.  You can write in the wet with the FSP AG7.

The surface is ultra smooth and the pen glides over it like a hot knife through butter.  When you use any ballpoint pen on this paper it is just smooth.  The waterproof pages also won't disintegrate from the rings and will stay in its shape and will not poke through.

It was a pleasure writing in the diary when I went away on trips.  This is the type of thing that I take with me to higher camps so that I can jot down my misadventures (or complain about my boredom), without worrying about whether my electronic device would crap itself due to condensation problems.

The NuS also sells at a great price.  I will definitely buy it again once I finish with my current book.

Simply great products.  I think I need to do more travelling to so I have more stuff to write down ;-)
