2024 Oct-Turkey Mon 7. Istanbul day 2

Got to sleep in this morning. I had some breakfast (complimentary with the accommodation). It was a huge breakfast which was suitable for say three people. I hate waste but it was unavoidable.

I headed for to visit the Yeni Camii and the surrounding market area. I picked up a copy of the Quran 'comparison' booklet (free).

From here I went to the Suleymaniye Mosque

(Süleymaniye Camii). Here I picked up a copy of the Quran translated into English. I have never seen an English version.

*For those wondering, no, I am not religious and neither am I considering taking up any religion. It is good to have a souvenir (the Quran) and a summary explaining the religion. It is important to have an understanding/appreciation.

After this I headed to the Yenikapi Marmaray subway stop, but could not find it. Locals then advised that I ise the team T2 to go to the Asian side. The problem is that the Laleli Universite T2 closest tram stop was closed for that direction. I had to walk to the Cemberlitas which was packed!

I eventually got to Kisikjli station. I walked over to Camlica Tower (huge television tower landmark). There is a nice park at it's base.

It was quite warm when I walked to the the Camlica Hill for some nice views of the Bosphorus. It was better to walk around the park over to the Buyuk Camlica Camii. An amazingly large mosque. Impressive.

I decided to catch the bus back to the subway station Uskudar. It was beaides the Bosphorus. I was happy to have visited the Asian side.

Night photography with very little people around...just the best 👌
