2025 Jan-India Tue 21. Mysore-overnight train.

*There is something graphic mentioned below. You have been so advised.*

I had planned to visit the Zoo and also Karanji Lake. Sadly, both attractions were closed for Tuesday. If I had known that these would be closed, I would have changed my plans for the first day.

I thus decided to walk the streets. The streets were quiet, with the exception of the area near the Devaraja market. A lot of activity is happening here. I was surprised that I missed this yesterday. It was good to get a feel of normal Indian life. I started thinking about the end of my holidays and returning to work.

*At the train station, I was catching up with one of the older tour ladies on their day. She told me she saw something confronting. She was walking down a street and saw a dead puppy with a huge hole on its side. What shocked her was that there were other puppies eating that dead puppy!

She had a chat with the tour guide who telephoned an animal shelter, who advised that they would go to the location to help the alive puppies. She went back to the location and saw that the live puppies had consumed one of the legs of the dead puppy. She was quite upset regarding that encounter.

For some reason, this information did not trigger me. I see it as a 'nature documentary' observance of the need to survive by animals. I do not judge the response of the animal shelter (whether they could or would respond to the situation) as it is not possible to help every creature in India. The world is harsh.

There are only a few more days left in India for me. I've had my full dose of India. Southern India does not have the tourism content to buzz me. Northern India did.

Tonight will be another restless sleep on the train. Will wake up in Hampi in the morning.

I hope something excites me in the next few days.
