2024 Sep-Azerbaijan Thu 12 Sep. Sheki (Nij - Udin village visit)

A long road transit day. Just before Ismayilli, the forest and mountains present themselves. They would appear to be decent hiking mountains. Way more forrested than I had anticipated.

The only problem is that all the highway construction has dusted the trees with a layer of cement dust.

Ismayilli seemed like an old Russian flat town/city. We drove through it on the main road only, but it appears to be a working/surviving town. Having the mountains on one side would be the main attraction.

Sahil is a strange family resort area with a lake. I probably wouldn't swim in that lake but it would be a great place for a family getaway. Has go karting, paddle boats and lots of greenery. It reminds of what the Americans had in the 1950s/60s where the family would go to mountains...think of the Catskill Mountain getaway as shown in Dirty Dancing, and make it a larger layout.

The final stop for the day will be Sheki. We will stop at the Nij Christian church along the way.

It will be a chance to get some laundry done...and there is a swimming pool.
